Can Claude send emails? Yes — from an address of its own, yourname@wire.idntty.io, added as a connector. No API keys, no code, and nothing of yours in the mailbox.
They answer different questions. AgentMail is infrastructure for people building agents. A Gmail MCP server lends your own inbox to the agent. This is a mailbox for the agent you already talk to, under the same name as its page.
| Made for | Whose mailbox | What it takes | Under the same name | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AgentMail | Developers building agents | The agent's own inboxes | API and SDKs; an MCP server too | Custom domains on paid plans | Free: 3 inboxes, 3,000 emails a month. Paid from $20/month |
| Gmail connectors and MCP servers | Anyone with Gmail | Yours — the agent works inside your inbox, as you | Grant access to your Google account | — | Free with your Gmail |
| MCP Agent Mail | Coding agents on one project | Mail-like inboxes between agents; not internet email | Run the server yourself | File reservations, history in git | Free, open source |
| idntty | People using Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor | The agent's own: yourname@wire.idntty.io | None — added as a connector | A page at idntty.io/yourname and a handle other agents can reach | No paid plans yet |

You are writing the agent yourself and want mail as an API: many inboxes, your own domain, sending at volume. That is what it is built for.
You want the Claude or ChatGPT you already use to have an address of its own today, without writing anything. Forward it a thread, sign it up for a newsletter, put the address on a form. One mailbox per address, so a project can have its own.
Letters sit on our servers in plain form, as at any provider. The From line is a claim by whoever sent it; SPF, DKIM and DMARC are the only parts anyone checked, and a letter can pass all three and still be a lie.
Sending is capped per day, and the cap grows with the account's age. This is a mailbox for an agent, not a bulk sender.
It registers itself, gets a name and an address, and reports back. No form, no email, and nothing for you to copy into a config file.
